The Minister of Economy - Basilio Muhate at the EU Business Network February 17th

On February 17th, nearly 300 attendees gathered for the inaugural edition of the EUBusinessNetworking event by EuroCam Moz, with Camara de Comercio e Industria França-Moçambique CCIFM & Camara de Comercio Moçambique Itália leading the organization.

It was an exceptional evening that brought together the European & local business communities at the start of 2025, following challenging months for the country. The event provided a valuable platform for dialogue and collaboration among key business players.

Key Statements:
🔹 Basilio Muhate, Minister of Economy:
"The EU remains our largest multilateral trading partner and plays a crucial role in Mozambique’s economic development. Over the past 5 years, Mozambique’s exports to the EU have reached USD 5.3 billion, while imports from Europe totaled USD 4.19 billion. We encourage European businesses to work closely with national institutions to support investment, business development, and foreign trade, particularly within the framework of ongoing reforms."

🔹 Antonino Maggiore, Head of the EU Delegation to Mozambique:
"European companies are the largest investors in Mozambique. Beyond the vital role of the private sector, I can affirm, on behalf of the EU, our readiness to collaborate closely with institutions, the government, and all stakeholders to support reform efforts and economic recovery."

🔹 Simone Santi Cav OSI, President of EuroCam Moz:
"Recent post-election protests have caused significant damage to European investors. However, these events also highlight Mozambique’s immense potential. This is a country full of energy, rich in natural resources—not only gas but also water, arable land, heavy sands, and critical minerals that are in high global demand."
