Abdul Magid Osman was born in Maputo, Mozambique, and is 72 years old. He has been an independent member of Galp’s Board of Directors since July 2012. He is also founder and Chairman of the BIOFUND Foundation (biodiversity protection) since 2011, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Épsilon Investimento since 2007 and is Chairman of the Board of Directors and of the Executive Committee of Tchuma Cooperativa de Crédito e de Poupança. Before joining Galp he was Minister of Finance from 1986 to 1991 and Minister of Mineral Resources of Mozambique between 1979 and 1983. He was a non-executive director of Mercantile Bank, in South Africa, from 2002 to 2007 and Chairman of the Board of Directors and of the Executive Committee of BCI - Banco Comercial de Investimentos. He was Director of the Management, Development and Governance Division in the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), managing the programme with projects in over 60 countries.
